Tour Itinerary

You’ll love this tour if...enjoy scenic cruises, charming waterfront towns, beautiful island landscapes, local food and wine, and discovering some of the Midwest's most picturesque hidden treasures.


Day 1 – Northward Bound

Our adventure begins as we depart Nebraska and journey north through Iowa and Minnesota toward the rugged beauty of Lake Superior. This evening we'll arrive in vibrant Duluth, where we'll enjoy a delicious welcome dinner together before settling into our waterfront hotel in Canal Park. It's the perfect opportunity to meet your fellow travelers and begin an unforgettable week exploring one of America's most scenic regions. (D)


Day 2 – Apostle Islands Cruise & Bayfield

Today we arrive in beautiful Bayfield, Wisconsin—the gateway to the spectacular Apostle Islands National Lakeshore. We'll board the renowned Grand Tour cruise, gliding past towering sandstone cliffs, historic lighthouses, secluded islands, and crystal-clear waters while learning about the area's rich maritime history. After lunch, we'll enjoy a guided tour and free time to explore Bayfield's charming downtown, filled with galleries, boutiques, and inviting cafés overlooking Lake Superior. Tonight we'll stay in this picturesque lakeside community, allowing plenty of time to soak in the relaxed atmosphere. (B)


Day 3 – Madeline Island & Wisconsin's Northwoods

After breakfast, we'll board the ferry to Madeline Island, the largest and only permanently inhabited Apostle Island. Explore the charming village of La Pointe, browse unique local shops, enjoy lunch at your leisure, and experience the peaceful island lifestyle that has captivated visitors for generations. This afternoon, we travel through Wisconsin's scenic Northwoods before arriving in Wausau, where we'll gather for an included dinner and reflect on another memorable day. (B, D)


Day 4 – Door County Traditions

Today we discover why Door County has become one of the Midwest's favorite vacation destinations. We'll visit the beautiful Bjorklunden Chapel, inspired by Norway's famous stave churches, before enjoying lunch at the iconic Al Johnson's Swedish Restaurant. Throughout the afternoon we'll sample local flavors at Seaquist's Orchard and Renard's Cheese, meet the welcoming locals who make this region so special, and end the day with Door County's famous fish boil—a beloved tradition that combines delicious food with an entertaining lakeside experience. Day 5 – Wisconsin Flavors & Lake Geneva

Our journey continues with a visit to LaClare Creamery, where we'll tour the award-winning creamery, sample handcrafted cheeses, and even meet the friendly goats that make it all possible. After a relaxing included lunch and a stop at the whimsical Kristmas Kringle Shoppe, we'll arrive in elegant Lake Geneva. Enjoy the evening exploring this beautiful lakeside town at your own pace, with plenty of wonderful restaurants and shops just steps from our hotel. (B, L)


Day 6 – Lake Geneva's Famous Mailboat Tour

Experience one of Wisconsin's most unique traditions as we board the historic U.S. Mailboat Tour. Watch skilled mail jumpers deliver mail to lakeside estates without the boat ever stopping while taking in magnificent shoreline mansions, beautifully landscaped gardens, and spectacular lake views. The afternoon is yours to browse downtown Lake Geneva, enjoy lunch, and relax before we gather for a farewell dinner celebrating a wonderful week together. (B, D)


Day 7 – Homeward Bound

As we begin our journey home, we'll enjoy one last breakfast together before traveling across Iowa with breaks along the way. Filled with memories of sparkling lakes, charming island villages, scenic cruises, and wonderful new friendships, we'll return home with countless stories from one of the Midwest's most beautiful hidden treasures.
