Tour Itinerary
Day 1 – Welcome aboard, Flagler Mansion and South Florida
Morning flight to Miami/Ft. Lauderdale. Upon our early afternoon arrival, we begin our exploration of South Florida and discover the fascinating story of the Sunshine State’s railroad heritage. Through the expansion of the Florida East Coast Railway, Florida’s remote and sparsely populated coastline blossomed into one of America’s premier vacation destinations, opening the region to tourism and development. This afternoon, we visit the magnificent Whitehall Mansion Museum, Flagler’s lavish Palm Beach mansion and estate built in 1902. Later, we check into our hotel and gather this evening for a welcome dinner, marking the beginning of our Florida rail adventure. (D)
Day 2 – High-Speed Rail to Central Florida and Bok Tower Gardens
Enjoy breakfast every morning at our hotels. Prepare for an unforgettable journey aboard Florida’s premier high-speed rail service, Brightline. As the only privately owned and operated intercity passenger railroad in the United States, Brightline has transformed rail travel in Florida by modernizing 235 miles of existing track. Even before boarding, the experience begins at Brightline’s stunning stations, each showcasing sleek, contemporary architecture and thoughtful design. Our ride from South Florida to Orlando takes approximately 2½ hours - a significant improvement over the four-plus hours typically required by car. With its quiet atmosphere, modern amenities, and exceptional comfort. We continue our exploration with a visit to the remarkable Bok Tower Gardens, a National Historic Landmark spanning 50 acres of beautifully landscaped gardens. Since opening in 1929, Bok Tower Gardens has been one of Florida’s most cherished destinations. This evening, we check into our accommodations for an overnight stay before heading out to enjoy dinner at a local restaurant and another memorable evening in the Sunshine State. (B, D)
Day 3 – Florida Railroad Museum and Peace River Airboat Excursion
This morning, we will visit the Florida Railroad Museum, which is dedicated to preserving Florida’s railroad history. Over the years, the Museum has acquired and preserved rolling stock and equipment from Florida railroading as it existed in the 1940s and 1950s. This afternoon, get ready for a Peace River airboat cruise, an exciting way to explore the state's natural beauty and wildlife. Traveling across the scenic waters of the Peace River on a powerful airboat, enjoy breathtaking views of wetlands, cypress trees, and untouched landscapes. Along the ride, guided by knowledgeable captains, see alligators, turtles, herons, egrets, and even bald eagles in their natural habitats. By evening, we will check into our Gulf Coast accommodations for the next two nights. (B, L)
Day 4 – Wonder Gardens, Bonita Springs Beach & Seminole Gulf Railway Dinner Train
Our day begins at the Wonder Gardens. Today, Wonder Gardens is a peaceful garden sanctuary with banyan trees, orchids, and native Florida plants, while you encounter flamingos, pelicans, tortoises, parrots, and other rescued wildlife. Unlike larger, more commercial attractions, Wonder Gardens is known for its relaxed, old-Florida atmosphere. This afternoon, enjoy lunch and stroll the tranquil Bonita Springs Beach on the Gulf Coast! This evening - all aboard for a thrilling evening on the Seminole Gulf Railway’s Murder Mystery Dinner Train, where dinner becomes part of the show! Step back in time as you settle into vintage railcars for an interactive, live-action mystery filled with twists, laughter, and suspense. While you try to crack the case, enjoy a decadent five-course meal featuring tender prime rib and fresh seafood, all served right at your seat as the train rolls through Florida’s scenic countryside. (B, D)
Day 5 – Manatee Boat Cruise and Returning Home
This morning, we set out on an unforgettable Manatee Boat Cruise - one of the best opportunities is this time of year to see these gentle “sea cows” up close in their natural habitat. With cooler winter water temperatures in the Gulf of Mexico, manatees migrate into warmer inland springs and protected waterways, creating incredible viewing conditions for visitors. In southwest Florida, one of their favorite gathering spots is the Orange River providing a haven for the manatees. Here, you may see them gliding just beneath the surface, surfacing for air, or drifting peacefully in groups - offering a rare and heartwarming glimpse of one of Florida’s most beloved wildlife species in an up-close, natural setting. Late afternoon, we will at Southwest Florida/Ft. Myers airport for our return flight home. (B)
